Biography

 

Sue Nettlefold

 

Completed her Fine Arts Degree at the National Art School, Sydney in 2002, majoring in Painting.

In 2004 Sue investigated the technical skills of 17th century painting.   This culminated in a small group exhibition at the Royal Institute of Architects, Potts Point, Sydney, in November 2004.

Her first solo exhibition was held at Marlene Antico Fine Arts Gallery, Paddington in 2000 during her first year of study at the National Art School.  She has been involved in numerous group exhibitions since her graduation, including Spectrum 2004, Parliament House Sydney. Art on the Rocks 2004. Infusion 03, 04, 05 at the National Art School.

More recently, The Exchange Square Exhibition, Stock Exchange, Sydney, November, 2005 and Twenty/20 Vision, Parliament House, Sydney, 2006.

Sue’s second solo exhibition was held in May 2006, at the Ultimo Project Gallery in Sydney

In April 2008, and April 2009 Sue was invited to participate in the annual landscape exhibition “Same Place, Many Views” at Defiance Gallery in Sydney.

The Gallery has since been including Sue’s work in other drawing and landscape themed exhibitions. Six of Sue’s works are currently exhibited in the Defiance Christmas exhibition.

In recent years Sue has returned to Tasmania from time to time to teach workshops to artists on the East Coast Tasmania. This resulted in the building of a  house and studio at Orford in 2008/2009,  which has provided a calm environment for her painting and the return to her own landscape, after many years in Sydney.
